Biography

J. Ross Mooney was born on Jan. 29, 1888, in West Nissouri Township. He was the son of Mary and John Mooney.  As a teenager he worked as a farm hand for Philip and Martha McArthur on Lot 16, Concession 2, West Zorra. He enlisted in 1914.  He served with the Corps of Guides and was a prisoner of war from 1915 to 1918. Ross had previously served with the 24th Earl's Grey Horse out of Ingersoll.  He later became the Embro postmaster.
