Chalmers Gregory was the son of Arthur and Louisa (nee Craig) Gregory. He was born near Braemar in East Zorra Township, then the family moved to East Nissouri Township. Later they moved north into Perth County and the Granton area. Chalmers enlisted with the Army on January 21, 1916. His Attestation Paper states he was an unmarried farmer and a member of the Methodist faith. He was with the 135th Unit, Overseas Battalion. The Biddulph History Book mentions that he contracted pneumonia during the course of his service. It would appear that the Army was able to send him home as he is listed as having passed away at the Military Base Hospital in Toronto at the age of 22. He was buried in the St. Marys Cemetery, St. Marys, Ontario.
