Biography

Robert McLeod Jr. (1907-1990) of Lot 19, Concession 2, was a teacher before and after serving as a Navigator with the Royal Canadian Air Force. He enlisted in 1941 and was posted to Rivers, Man., and Malton, Ont., where he taught Navigation. Then he was shipped overseas, where he served with No. 6 Bomber Command, stationed in Yorkshire. He was in London, England, for the celebrations that followed D-Day. After the fighting ended, he remained in Warrington England, for about a year, at a demobilizing station for the RCAF. As of September 1946 he was back in a classroom at Walkerville Collegiate Institute in Windsor.
