Biography

Gordon McArthur was the son of James and Johana (nee Sutherland) McArthur of E 1/2 Lot 17 Concession 12 and brother of Burns, Alvin and Bruce.  He was a farmer who was drafted in 1918 to 1st Depot Battalion Western Ontario Regiment but before his training was over the war had endedHe married Doris Knight in Oyen Alberta in 1938 and they raised one son Colin.  Around 1940 they relocated to Ingersoll, Ontario where Mr. McArthur was employed by the William Stone Co., and also the Ingersoll Public Utilities Commission.  He was a member of St. James Anglican Church and is buried in Harris Street Cemetery, Ingersoll.
