Biography

John Cappa enlisted with the Royal Canadian Regiment and served from 1942-1945 with the Engineers at Alderschot, England.  His parents were Felicia and Joseph Cappa. Following the war he married Phyllis Smith and they moved to East Nissouri.and lived with Wayne and Roberta Smith for a bit before purchasing a piece of property next door and built their home in 1962.  Together they raised a daughter Beverley.  John lived there until he moved into Spruce Lodge, Stratford in November of 2008.  He worked for the Canadian National Railway for 25 years, was a 60 year member of the St. Marys Royal Canadian Legion Br. 236 and played in the Country Corners band at area nursing homes.  John passed away at Spruce Lodge in Stratford, Ontario on June  29, 2015 at the age of 91.
