Biography
Neil Goodhand was the son of Guy John Goodhand and Catharine (nee Collins) of Thamesford, Ontario. Neil was a bombardier and served with #5 Group in the 189th Squadron Royal Canadian Air Force. He also served with #44 Rhodesia Squadron. He made 29 sorties over Germany from 1942 - 1945. At the end of the war in Europe he volunteered to go to the Pacific Theatre but the war ended before he was shipped out. In 1946 he married Leona Mary Douglas from Ingersoll. They settled in Ingersol and raised a son William Thomas (Tom) and a daughter Catharine. In 1955 Neil re-enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force and served until 1974. During that time the family was posted in Europe, France, Edmonton and Calgary. When Neil passed away he was living in Sidney, British Columbia.
