Biography
Herbert E. Shipton attended Dickson’s School. His trade at the time of enlistment was a watchmaker. He was in the Canadian Siege Battalion of the army, with the rank of Gunner. He was killed in action November 16th 1917, when he was only 19, in France. His name is listed on the Cenotaph in Ingersoll and his name is also on a plaque in St. James Church in Ingersoll. He is buried in Boulogne Eastern Cemetery, France.
According to Herbert's Attestation Papers and records at the Boulogne Easter Cemetery in France, he enlisted on March 12, 1917 and was the son of William Edward and Rosina Shipton
