Lawrence Pirie was born in 1898 in West Oxford. He joined the Canadian Infantry, 168th Battalion, when he was 16, and his regimental number was 675378. He contacted the measles and died at the age of 17. Lawrence is buried in Banner Cemetery. His name appears on the Cenotaph at the Zorra Township Office.
