Harold Minler of Lot 2, Concession 4 enlisted with the Royal Canadian Regiment. He trained at Wolesley Barracks in London, Camp Borden, Barrie and Woodstock, all in Ontario; Gagetown, N.B.; and in Scotland. In Sicily, he was wounded in the hand and out of action for two weeks. On Christmas Day 1943, he was wounded again, near Ortona, Italy. It was a leg injury, and it forced his return to England, where he worked in the army kitchen and garages. Then he was sent back to Wolesley Barracks for two months. Upon leaving the army, he returned to the family farm. Harold married Marjory Jean Tucker of Woodstock, 3 weeks before enlisting, and they raised 3 sons. Jerry, Ken and Roger.
