Biography

Hugh McKenzie was born in Ingersoll April 6, 1893. He attended Dickson’s School, and was a labourer prior to enlisting November 24, 1916. His regimental number was 1039958, and he served in the 239th Battalion Canadian Expeditionery Force.  His Attestation Papers show that he enlisted in High River, Alberta and his next-of-kin was his father J. H. MacKenzie of London, Ontario.  It is also interesting that throughout his Attestation Papers, Hugh used the spelling MacKenzie, as opposed to McKenzie.
