Ira Karn born on May 28, 1886 in Sanlac Michigan, USA. He was a widower when he was drafted in 1917 and listed his next-of-kin as his mother, Maria Karn of Thamesford. He served as a Gunner in the 64th Depot Battery CFC CEF during the war. A newspaper article said that he was also in the 23rd Howitzer Battery of the Second Division as an artificer which is someone who is responsible for the upkeep of small arms and machines guns. His Regimental number was 335274. After the war he worked as a tinsmith in Thamesford. Ira died in 1954 and is buried in the Zion 7th Line Cemetery.
