Melvin Armstrong from Beachville was in the Army Service Corps as a truck driver. He fought in England, France, Germany and Holland. After the war Mel returned to Beachville to work at the Quarry, then Massey Ferguson and finally at Standard Tube in Woodstock from where he retired. Mel and his brother-in-law Ken Nadlin, also a veteran bought property from the Reeves family farm where they each built their homes. Mel died in 2004 in his 83rd year.
